World Cleanup Day

World Cleanup Day is a global initiative that unites millions of volunteers each year to remove litter, improve local communities, and inspire long-term environmental stewardship. Click HERE to learn more.

Join Loyola and Tulane in celebrating World Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 19th, by participating in a litter sweep of our neighborhood and waterways! This year's event will be a part of the Keep Louisiana Beautiful "Love Our Waterways" initiative. Click HERE to learn more. 

Before the sweep, join us for light bites and educational tabling. Stick around afterwards while we tally our impact and enjoy live music and sno-balls from Imperial Woodpecker as a thank you for helping beautify the neighborhood!

We will provide trash bags, gloves, and litter grabbers (feel free to bring your own!). This event is completely outdoors; please bring a reusable water bottle, sunscreen, and wear comfortable clothing (closed-toe shoes recommended). 

All students, staff, faculty, and community members are welcome! Groups are encouraged to participate. Please register individually and accept the waiver HERE.

How to get involved: 

  • CLICK HERE to access the registration form & waiver for litter sweep participants.

  • Snacks and water refills will be provided.

  • After the sweep, enjoy live music, sno-balls, and educational tabling (view the vendor list HERE).

  • We will provide trash bags, gloves, and litter grabbers.

  • Please bring a reusable water bottle and wear comfortable clothing (closed-toe shoes recommended).

  • If you forget your water bottle, we can provide one while supplies last.

**For Loyola students: If you need a ride from Loyola's main campus to the Broadway campus please call Loyola's Shuttle Service at 504-865-3100. The shuttle runs on Saturdays starting at 10AM.** 

The Cleanup:
We will begin at Loyola's Broadway campus, where snacks will be provided by Sodexo (starts at 10 AM). We will then split into groups to begin the litter sweep of the Carrollton neighborhood and riverfront.  This is a great opportunity to give back and get involved with the community! Once the cleanup ends, we will meet back on the Greenville Lawn, where lunch will be provided by Aramark (starting at 12:30 PM), educational tabling, & much more will take place!
