Student Health Clubs

At Loyola, there are more than 85 student organizations. Within Pre-Health, there are 2 organizations you can join. These include Health Professions Organization (HPO) and the Minority Association of Pre-Medicine Students (MAPS). We encourage you to learn about these organizations and get involved. They offer various resources and mentorship to help students navigate the Pre-Health field.

Pre-Health Roadmap

Loyola Pre-Health values the uniqueness of our students and helps students achieve their goals at their own pace. Through advising and pre-health opportunities, students are ready for each step in their Pre-Health careers and beyond.


We provide various post-graduation options for our students and acknowledge that 43.9% of students enrolled in medical school take one to two gap years (2019 survey conducted by the Association of American Medical Colleges). Below you can find a roadmap to guide students throughout their Pre-Health career at Loyola!

Sociology Minor

For those who wish to pursue another area of study as their primary major, the curriculum of the sociology program can serve as an adaptable and attractive minor (22 credit hours), or even as a double major. Increasing numbers of students are combining their interests in this way, especially as it expands their skills and employability.

Bachelor of Arts in Sociology

Overview of Courses

Loyola's Bachelor of Arts in Sociology degree is a 120 semester credit hour academic program. In addition to our foundational sociology core, theory, and research methodology, you will complete a sociology research project and internship and choose electives to tailor the program to your interests.
