Six Loyola Faculty Members Win Grants from the Louisiana Biomedical Research Network

Biomedical Data Science and Bioinformatics Grants have been awarded to faculty members in the College of Arts & Sciences who are collaborating with students on computational projects during the Spring semester. Funding was provided to Loyola by the Louisiana Biomedical Research Network as part of an Institutional Development Award (IDeA) from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences of the National Institutes of Health.  Congratulations to all the grant recipients!

  • Dr. Anat Burger (Physics) "Analysis of the spectrum of transcription factor binding affinity in the genomic background" 
  • Dr. Amrita Datta (Biological Sciences) "Computational Analysis of Breast Cancer Spheroids Using IncuCyte S3 Live-Cell Imaging"
  • Dr. Laurie Earls (Biological Sciences) "Incorporating bioinformatics analysis into a course on genome biology"
  • Dr. Omar EL Khatib (Math & Computer Science) "Transformer-Based Detection of Mental Health Conditions from Social Media"
  • Dr. Frank Jordan (Biological Sciences) "A data-driven early-warning system for the invasive Asian swamp eel Amphipnous cuchia using environmental DNA (eDNA)"
  • Dr. Annie McGlynn-Wright (Sociology) "The Doctor Is (Not) Ready to See You: An audit study of access to gynecological care for publicly and privately insured individuals in the U.S."
