Dr. Torres Completes Report on Human Trafficking for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs

Dr. Christopher Torres recently completed a qualitative evaluation of the Greater New Orleans Human Trafficking Task Force that was accepted by the Office for Victims of Crime within the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs. Drawing on in-depth interviews with stakeholders across victim services, prosecution, law enforcement, public health, and Tribal advocacy, the study identified broad agreement about the region’s most pressing human trafficking response challenges. The report offers a streamlined policy roadmap focused on permanent public awareness and frontline training, survivor-centered information-sharing protocols, community-based victim identification, culturally responsive services, and stronger long-term coordination capacity.
