Environment Program Roundtable: Sustainable Living

On October 9th at 12:30 pm in Monroe Hall 152, Loyola's Environment Program hosted their first Roundtable of their 2025-2026 series featuring Mark Tobler, Keep Loyola Beautiful Coordinator, and Christian Ryan, executive director of Green Light New Orleans. The discussion focused on practical ways to live sustainably.

Green Light New Orleans is an environmental nonprofit that demonstrates how individual actions can create collective impact. From changing 600,000 light bulbs to installing rain barrels that help reduce flooding and capture over 16 million gallons of rainwater citywide. Their work addresses several challenges that face the city, all while educating & empowering residents to take sustainability into their own hands. Learn more about Green Light New Orleans here.

The discussion also highlighted several of Loyola's ongoing sustainability efforts, including EV chargers, bioswales, glass recycling, and solar-powered buildings. Students also got the opportunity to share their ideas for a more sustainable campus.

If you missed the Roundtable, check out the recording on our YouTube channel! Stay tuned for future Roundtables & events.
