At least three courses from the list below may count towards the certificate:

Philosopher Kids

If you enjoy working with children, then join Philosopher Kids! Philosopher Kids is a program aimed at engaging elementary school-aged children in philosophical conversations through literature, games, and art.

Founded by Dr. Jon Altschul, Philosopher Kids is inspired by Dr. Thomas E. Wartenberg’s book, Big Idea as for Little Kids: Teaching Philosophy through Children's Literature. Once a week, our members visit Holy Name of Jesus School to work with their class of third-graders.

Biology Independent Research

The Biology Department at Loyola University New Orleans prides itself in its outstanding undergraduate research program.

The culmination of this program is the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium held towards the end of the spring semester. All biology majors are encouraged to consider independent biological research as part of their degree plan to graduation. All full-time faculty members engage in original research and are enthusiastic about collaborating with students. We also serve as liaisons for students who wish to work with off-campus investigators.

Master of Arts in Teaching

Loyola University New Orleans is proud to offer its Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program.

The university has designed this degree program so that individuals can obtain a teacher certification at the middle school (grades 4-8) or secondary level (grades 6-12) and a graduate degree at the same time.
