All requests to add a student to the roster of an already closed* or wait-listed course must be approved by that course's Associate Dean. For courses in CAS, the Associate Dean (Dr. Tim Welsh, twelsh@loyno.edu) will consider requests to add a student after confirming approval from the following parties:

Certificate in Editing and Publishing
The Certificate in Editing & Publishing at Loyola University New Orleans introduces students to the profession of editing and to the publishing industry. It is a transcript annotation that recognizes course work in English that prepares students for a career in publishing. It can be combined with progress toward a BA in English or another field. To earn the certificate at least five courses in total are required.
At least three courses from the list below may count towards the certificate:

Philosopher Kids
If you enjoy working with children, then join Philosopher Kids! Philosopher Kids is a program aimed at engaging elementary school-aged children in philosophical conversations through literature, games, and art.
Founded by Dr. Jon Altschul, Philosopher Kids is inspired by Dr. Thomas E. Wartenberg’s book, Big Idea as for Little Kids: Teaching Philosophy through Children's Literature. Once a week, our members visit Holy Name of Jesus School to work with their class of third-graders.

Loyola University's Career Development Center provides a diverse array of services to help you select and prepare for a career in biology. The United States Department of Labor publishes a useful Occupational Outlook Handbook that provides a great deal of information about what different kinds of professional biologists do, how much they earn, and the prospects for future employment.
Biology Independent Research
The Biology Department at Loyola University New Orleans prides itself in its outstanding undergraduate research program.
The culmination of this program is the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium held towards the end of the spring semester. All biology majors are encouraged to consider independent biological research as part of their degree plan to graduation. All full-time faculty members engage in original research and are enthusiastic about collaborating with students. We also serve as liaisons for students who wish to work with off-campus investigators.

Master of Arts in Teaching
Loyola University New Orleans is proud to offer its Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program.
The university has designed this degree program so that individuals can obtain a teacher certification at the middle school (grades 4-8) or secondary level (grades 6-12) and a graduate degree at the same time.
