An Evening with Bob Marshall & Quin Hillyer: Seeking Common Ground on Louisiana Environmental Issues

By Loyola University on Mon, 10/20/2025 - 15:50

On Sunday, October 19, at 6:30 pm in Mass Comm 402, Loyola Students for Environmental Action (SEA) teamed up with the New Orleans Sierra Club chapter to create an open dialogue about Louisiana's environmental issues and solutions to these problems. Students and community members came together for a thought-provoking exchange on environmental policy, climate challenges, and the future of Louisiana’s coast. This event featured two nationally recognized voices: Bob Marshall, Pulitzer Prize–winning environmental columnist for The Times-Picayune/The New Orleans Advocate, and Quin Hillyer, long-time political commentator and columnist. Marshall, known for his decades of reporting on coastal erosion, wetland loss, and environmental justice, joined Hillyer, who offered a conservative viewpoint on environmental policy. Their dialogue gave a unique look at how differing ideologies can still find common ground when it comes to protecting our shared environment.
