Biology Receives a Quarter Million Dollar NIH Award to Purchase a Laser Scanning Confocal Microscope
A National Institutes of Health award of $249,994.75 was granted to the Department of Biological Sciences to acquire an Olympus FV4000 Laser Scanning Confocal Microscope to enrich faculty research and student training. This microscope will allow for the imaging of small structures such as neuronal processes, to perform 3D imaging of cellular structures, and to co-localize proteins within cells. Dr. Laurie Earls is PI on this project with Drs Anderson, Bucolo, Datta, Mix, and Walkowski as co-PIs.
