Environment Program Roundtable: Sustainable Living
Thank you to everyone who attended our first Roundtable of the school year!
On October 9th, we heard from Mark Tobler, Keep Loyola Beautiful Coordinator, and Christian Ryan, executive director of Green Light New Orleans, as they discussed sustainable living in the city.
Green Light New Orleans is an environmental nonprofit that demonstrates how individual actions can create collective impact. From changing 600,000 light bulbs to installing rain barrels that help reduce flooding and capture over 16 million gallons of rainwater citywide. Their work addresses several challenges that face the city, all while educating & empowering residents to take sustainability into their own hands. Learn more about Green Light New Orleans here.
We also discussed sustainable practices on Loyola’s campus, like EV chargers, bioswales, glass recycling, and solar-powered buildings. Students got the opportunity to share their ideas for a more sustainable campus. Together, we’re building a more resilient campus and community.
