Loyola's Pre-eminent Undergraduate Research Event

The Department of Biological Sciences hosted its 28th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium on Friday, April 13, 2018 from 1:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the Loyola University New Orleans main campus in Nunemaker Auditorium, located on the 3rd floor in Monroe Hall. A crawfish social immediately followed the symposium in front of Monroe Hall.

Dr. Carol Ann MacGregor published two articles in April 2018.

 

Dr. Paul W. Barnes, J.H. Mullahy Endowed Chair in Environmental Biology, and Dr. Susanne Neugart, Postdoctoral Researcher in Biology, recently attended a network meeting of the International Association of Plant UV Research (UV4Plants) held in Bled, Slovenia from April 15-18.  Scientists and students from 20 countries (mostly in Europe) attended this conference to learn about recent research aimed at better understanding how ultraviolet radiation in sunlight influences plants and ecosystems.  Dr.

Laura Gomez (Psychology and Translation & Interpretation Major, '18) and Ana Longo (Psychology Premed and Biochemistry Premed, '18) presented research with Dr. Erin Dupuis at the Southeastern Psychological Association's 64th Annual Meeting in Charleston, SC on March 7th. Their research poster was titled, "Effect of Political Statements on Attitudes and Behavior Toward Women."

Dr. Christian Bolden's article "Gang Organization and Gang Types" was released in the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Criminology and Criminal Justice.

Criminal Justice Alum Tiffany Delery Davis '00 of Liskow & Lewis was named to New Orleans City Business' 14th Leadership in Law class. Tiffany will be honored at a reception on May 14, 2018, at the New Orleans Museum of Art.

Luis E. Rivera II ’01 (political science), an attorney at Henderson Franklin Starnes & Holt PA in Florida, was selected as an emerging leader in the American Bankruptcy Institute’s 40 Under 40 initiative. He was formally recognized at ABI’s 2017 Winter Leadership Conference in Palm Springs, Calif. Rivera has broad experience in business litigation, bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, and insolvency counseling. He is board-certified in business bankruptcy law and consumer bankruptcy by the American Board of Certification, one of only 12 attorneys in Florida to hold this dual certification.
