Bryan Whittington from ENV Class of 2017. I just wanted to give the everyone an update on my life since graduation. You may recall that I did several internships in various departments at the Audubon Zoo throughout college. Not long after graduating, I accepted a position as a full-time zookeeper at the Baton Rouge Zoo in the Primates/Carnivores department. This was an awesome experience for me to begin my career in animal care. One of the highlights was working with two ornery cheetahs and training them from square one to receiving a voluntary injection.

Hutchinson Distinguished Biology professor, Dr. Patricia Dorn, and her collaborators from Guatemala, Vermont and Brazil have recently published their discovery of a new species of kissing bug, which they found in a cave in Belize.
Dr. Kim Ernst's research students presented at the 59th Annual Meeting of the Psychonomic Society and at the 39th Annual Conference of the Society for Judgment and Decision Making. Accompanying Dr. Ernst were Nicholas Militello, Rabiya Farooqui, Huong Tran, and Ashley Messina. Congratulations to Dr. Ernst and her research students!

Hannah Pico (Sociology with a concentration in Social Justice & Inequality 2017)--unofficial Spanish minor--is currently working in La Zubia, Spain (province of Granada), as a North American Cultural Ambassador English Language Assistant. While there, she is planning to work towards a Master's at the Universidad de Granada.

Seniors, Andrew Harper (ENVB '19), Shannon Hester (ENVT '19), and Arden LaGrone (BIOL '19) presented their research in the Undergraduate Mentored Research poster competition at the National Association of Biology Teachers on Saturday, November 10 in San Diego, California. They did a fantastic job and represented their respective Loyola programs and University to the highest standard.

Congratulations to Kayla Noto ’19 who was awarded 1st Place Oral Presentation in Science and Math at the 10th Annual LSU Undergraduate Research Conference in Baton Rouge October 26th for her paper, “Fentanyl Toxicity Deaths Surge as Opioid Epidemic Reaches Jefferson Parish, Louisiana”.
Dr. Aimee K. Thomas, professor for the Environment Program and Biology, visited Ridgewood Prep Kindergarten students to discuss spider natural history. A good time was had by all, including the eight-legged helper.
