During the Loyola University New Orleans faculty and staff spring convocation on Jan. 23, the University Faculty Senate honored four of its colleagues with prestigious awards.

Andrew Macdonald publishes extensively in the criticism of popular fiction and film. He has written a book on Howard Fast and is co-author of Shapeshifiting and Shaman or Sherlock? He has, with Gina Macdonald, just edited Jane Austen on Screen.

Kate Adams, Chair of the English Department, has published 15 books.

Jason Straight, a senior in history, has forayed into the professional world of academia.

Sarah White '09 is a recent graduate of the Psychology pre-med program at Loyola. During her time at Loyola, she volunteered for the American Red Cross and the Katrina Relief Service (including work with the Loyola University Community Action Program).

Since arriving in 2004, Sara Butler has been hard at work creating a niche for Medieval Studies here at Loyola.

Mary Kate Delaney, a senior in History, will be heading off next month to the Phi Alpha Theta conference at Northwestern State University to present a paper entitled “A Pope of Great Words: Innocent III and His Writings.”

Darryl J. Mayeaux, Ph.D., received his B.A. from Loyola in 1988 and his PhD from the University of California, Davis in 1996. He is currently an associate professor at St. Bonaventure University.

Jessica Cosgrove is a Pre-Med major in the Psychology Department. She is President of Loyola’s Chapter of Psi Chi (psychology’s national honor society) and a member of Alpha Sigma Nu (the Jesuit national honor society).
