Psychology alumnus knows all about the hamster race!

Darryl J. Mayeaux, Ph.D., received his B.A. from Loyola in 1988 and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis in 1996. He is currently an associate professor at St. Bonaventure University. In 2007, Dr. Mayeaux received a $125,000 grant from the Alden Trust for his investigation of “Brain, Mind, and Behavior” and a grant for over $7,000 for “Establishing a Biopsychology Curriculum.” He has been the principal author on numerous publications including those published in Developmental Psychobiology and Aggressive Behavior. Dr. Mayeaux is also a reviewer for numerous publications including the Journal of Comparative Psychology, Developmental Psychobiology, and the American Journal of Primatology.  In 2008, he won the Junior Faculty Award for Professional Excellence from SBU. Dr. Mayeaux is interested in social behavior, learning and their physiological substrates. He is currently working with Syrian (golden) hamsters (Mesocricetus auratus) and Norway rats (Rattus norvegicus). His recent research concerns hamsters' social learning and social memory.
