Dr. Mark Fernandez is the recipient of the 2012 Woody Guthrie fellowship. The fellowship supports projects that examine Woody Guthrie in an American historical and cultural context, as well as projects that explore Woody Guthrie life and work in a global context.
Dr. Mark Fernandez was recently named a Louisiana Historical Association (LHA) fellow. The LHA recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of members and others by creating “Fellows of the Association.”
In May 2011, he was named chief executive officer of the Lafayette Parish Bayou Vermilion District. In that capacity, he runs the Cajun and Creole Living History Museum and Folklife Park, Vermilionville, and oversees operations on Bayou Vermilion within Lafayette Parish. (www.bayouvermilion.org)
The Belleville, Mich., farm is stocked with fresh, chemical-free flowers and produce, including non-conventional sorts for customers five days a week. When Kari is not farming, she’s studying graduate courses at Eastern Michigan University.

Thomas Gibbs' job at the museum will entail travelling around the country interviewing the remaining World War Two veterans and then taking those oral histories and implementing them in various capacities at the museum.
The Magazin istoric Foundation awarded Dr. Bernard Cook's "The United States of America and Romania: Diplomatic Relations 1912-1919" the Grigore Gafencu Prize for the best book on Romanian diplomatic history in 2010. Congratulations, Dr. Cook!
Keaton Postler, History junior, has received a prestigious SHEAR/Mellon Fellowship to work on his thesis this summer at the McNeil Center for Early American Studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Mirya Holman, (2004 Loyola graduate in Political Science and History), recently received her Ph.D from Claremont Graduate University. Mirya is currently teaching at Florida Atlantic University.
