Achievements

Emily Drabek (Physics'09) has conducted research in Astrophysics at the University of Exeter (UK) and the Mauna Kea Observatory in Hawaii. Her recent paper has been accepted to the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.

Tirtho Biswas has been working on gravitational theories for the last several years. In a recent issue of "Physical Review Letters", one of the most prestigious journals in Physics, he an his collaborators published a paper on modifying the Einstein's theory of gravity.

Dr. Fitzgerald presented papers at three recent conferences and has been invited to be the keynote speaker for the Loyola University New Orleans Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi meeting on April 18, 2012.

Dr. Jaita Talukdar's article 'Thin but Not Skinny: Women Negotiating the 'Never Too Thin' Body Ideal in Urban India was published in the March 2012 issue of Women's Studies International Forum.

Dr. Chris Schaberg was recently interviewed about his book 'The Textual Life of Airports' on the Wisconsin Public Radio/Public Radio International show "To the best of our Knowledge" (http://www.ttbook.org).

Graduating math senior, Steffon M. Gray, has been awarded a Syracuse University Graduate Scholar for 2012 - 2013. This award includes twenty-four (24) credit hours of remitted tuition valued at $30,000.

Michael Kammer and David Vumbaco, Physics seniors, have presented their research at the Undergraduate Research and Collaborative Scholarship Symposium on April 12 and at the 22nd Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium on April 13.

Dr. Mark Fernandez was recently named a Louisiana Historical Association (LHA) fellow. The LHA recognizes the outstanding accomplishments of members and others by creating “Fellows of the Association.”
