Achievements

Darryl J. Mayeaux, Ph.D., received his B.A. from Loyola in 1988 and his PhD from the University of California, Davis in 1996. He is currently an associate professor at St. Bonaventure University.

The Rev. Peter Bernardi, S.J., associate professor of religious studies in the College of Humanities and Natural Sciences, recently published his book, “Maurice Blondel, Social Catholicism, & Action Française: The clash over the Church’s role in society during the Modernist Era.”

Candace Gregory-Abbott graduated magna cum laude from Loyola University in 1991 with a double major in English and History. She went on to complete a Ph.D. in Medieval Studies at Yale University.

Cheron Brylski, A'80, is the sole proprietor of the Brylski Company, a firm that specializes in public relations, marketing and grassroots ally development campaigns for government, non-profit and political clients in the State of Louisiana.  

Edwin Murray, A'82, L'85, is the Louisiana state senator for District 4, which includes the Lakeview neighborhood in Orleans Parish. 

Jason Casellas, A'99, is an associate professor of government in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Texas at Austin. Casellas has been working on a book that examines Latino representation in U.S. legislatures and Congress.

Cheron Brylski, A'80, is the sole proprietor of the Brylski Company, a firm that specializes in public relations, marketing and grassroots ally development campaigns for government, non-profit and political clients in the State of Louisiana.  

Les East, journalism instructor in Loyola's School of Mass Communication was elected to the 2008-09 Press Club of New Orleans board.

Dr. Janet R. Matthews, professor of psychology in the College of Humanities and Natural Sciences, was recently elected as president-elect of Division 31 of the American Psychological Association.

Five Loyola University New Orleans public relations students were awarded first-place honors Friday, May 15, in the 2009 Bateman Case Study Competition.
