Les East, journalism instructor in Loyola's School of Mass Communication was elected to the 2008-09 Press Club of New Orleans board at the club’s annual meeting on Thursday, June 26, 2008. East also won awards at the 51st annual Press Club of New Orleans awards competition on Saturday, July 18. He took home the first-place sports story award for “Drew Brees: no record, no win,” published in The Advocate, and best sports blog for neworleans.com. He also won two third-place and one second-place award.
