History alumna, Eileen Guillory, a Social Studies teacher at the private girls' school--McGehee's, was awarded the McGehee's Jane Pharr Community Service Award.

Dr. Josefa Salmón, professor of Languages and Cultures, recently received a Fulbright grant to conduct research in Bolivia for the 2010-2011 academic year.

Loyola School of Mass Communication alumnus and Deveney Communication Vice President of Communication, Jeffrey Ory, ABC, APR, was named to the International Association of Business Communicators 2009-2010 executive board. The executive board is the governing body of IABC, and develops the strategic plan and direction for the association under the guidance of bylaws approved by the IABC membership.

George Bishop's stories and essays have appeared in publications such as The Oxford American, The Third Coast, Press, American Writing, The Turkish Daily News, The Caspian Business News and Vorm (in Dutch). Letter to My Daughter (Ballantine Books, Spring 2010) is his first published novel.

Denis Janz, Provost Distinguished Professor of Religious Studies, has been appointed "Consulting Editor" by Fortress Press. His responsibilities include acquisitions about European Christianity and evaluating new European books for possible publication in North America.

Dr. Angel Parham presented her paper, "Caribbean and Creole in New Orleans," on Saturday Feb. 27 at the Francophone Caribbean and North American International Conference at Florida State University.

Kylie Faure, a Social Justice Scholar, recently co-presented a paper about her service learning project at the Freret Neighborhood Center at the Gulf-South Summit on Service Learning and Civic Engagement through Higher Education.
