Achievements

Calling all jetsetters: Loyola University New Orleans assistant professor Christopher Schaberg, Ph.D., published two recent articles in his field of airport studies.

On Friday, October 26, 2012 POLS Major, Martin Quintero, prepared Venezuelan cuisine for an International Student Association (ISA) event. The ISA is an organization that works to foster cultural understanding, combat stereotypes and promote diversity on Loyola's campus.

On October 30, 2012, Dr. Natasha Bingham and POLS major, Marlee Clayton, present research entitled, "The Impact of Economic Downturns on Parental Leave Discourses in the European Union."

Don Hauber, Ph.D., professor of biological sciences, has published a review article "Moving from a regional to a continental perspective of Phragmites australis invasion in North America" in the online journal AoB Plants.

Mirya Holman, Ph.D., '04 received her Ph.D. from Claremont Graduate University in American Politics and Public Policy and her BA from Loyola University New Orleans in Political Science and History.

History professors Dr. Bernard Cook and Dr. David Moore each presented research in Romania this fall.

CW Network Vice President Russ Myerson ('76) learned TV basics attending Loyola's School of Mass Communication. 

English professor John Biguenet was honored with the top literary award in the state—the Louisiana Writer Award. The award recognizes his many contributions to the state’s literary landscape as a novelist, short story writer, playwright, poet, columnist, translator and essayist.

"The Hit," a story by English alumnus Tom Andes ('99), first published in Xavier Review, was selected for Best American Mystery Stories 2012.
