Achievements

Graduating senior Elizabeth Kroll (Biological Sciences major and Spanish minor) received one of ten nationally competitive scholarships to study Spanish for four weeks at the Universidad Internacional/The Center for Bilingual Multicultural Studies in Cuernavaca, Mexico.

Graduating senior Winnie Yu (English Writing major and Latin American Studies minor) received one of two nationally competitive scholarships to study Spanish for several weeks over the summer at the Estudio Internacional Sampere in Cuenca, Ecuador.

Alexie Gaddis, junior psychology major, was the recipient of the College Woman of Excellence and Louisiana Women's Caucus Foundation Scholarship.

Graduating Senior-classman Alexander Fournet will be presented the Reverend Karl Rahner, SJ, Award for the Outstanding Undergraduate Student in the Department of Religious Studies for the 2010-11 school year. The Honors Convocation will take place Friday, May 13th, 2011 at 11am in Roussel Hall.

Bob Thomas, Ph.D., has been named a "Great Gentleman" by the East Jefferson General Hospital Auxiliary for his "outstanding contributions to the community through volunteerism." 

Dr. David Myers served as a Keynote Speaker at the 5th International interdisciplinary conference on Philosophy of Computer Games on April 6-9 in Athens, Greece. 

Alumna Frances Rios published her first book entitled, "The Glue Factor:Giving Presentations That Make Your Messages Stick."

Dr. Fitzgerald presented a paper at the Midwest Sociological Society Annual Meeting in St. Louis, MO.

Dr. Anthony Ladd's article "Pandora's Well: Hubris, Deregulation, Fossil Fuels, and the BP Oil Disaster in the Gulf" has been accepted for publication in American Behavioral Scientist.

After a year of hard work, The Maroon was awarded the prestigious Mark of Excellence Award for best all-around non-daily student newspaper in the region by the Society of Professional Journalists.
