Environment Professor Paul Barnes, PhD, sheds light on how UV effects plants

Dr. Barnes has been actively involved in a European association specifically dedicated to the study of UV radiation and plants (UV4Plants). He is currently on the Editorial Board and also serves on the society’s Managing Committee.  Just this past April a meeting was held in Bled, Slovenia, which is situated in the Alps.

This meeting produced several publications outlining future needs/directions for research spanning molecular biology to ecosystem ecology including two by our very own Dr. Barnes. He is the lead author on Importance and direction of current and future plant-UV research and a contributing author on A perspective on ecologically relevant plant-UV research and its practical application

This was Dr. Barnes' second time in Slovenia and highly recommends visiting this country if you have a trip to Europe planned.  Its very affordable, the people are friendly and there is a lot of interesting biology, ecology, and geology. Check out some photos here
