Six students from Loyola University New Orleans Parasitology class engaged in hands-on, experiential learning as they traveled to a rural village in Guatemala and implemented the Ecohealth home improvements that they studied in class. Students traveled to Almolonga, Jutiapa, Guatemala over their Mardi Gras break, Feb.
Dr. Glenn Hymel Received the 2017 American Massage Therapy Association Lifetime Achievement Award.
On May 16, 2017, Loyola's Translation and Interpreting Certificate Program recognized 23 students who completed the program and received their certificates this year. In addition, 25 who completed the program before this semester were recognized for their achievements, including 2 who are certified to work with the Louisiana Supreme Court.

Emily Polvado (Left) presented her thesis "State of Exception". Her advisor for this project was Dr. Joseph Berendzen.
McCalla Busman (Right) presented her thesis "Nagarjuna and the Teaching of Emptiness and Empty Language". Her advisor for this project was Dr. John Clark.
At this year's 2017 College of Arts and Sciences Honors Convocation Dr. Paul Barnes received the Excellence in Research Award - which is presented to faculty who have demonstrated consistent superiority in scholarship and in publication of books, articles, creative endeavors, and conference presentations.
Three Senior Biology students received prestigious awards during the 2017 Honors Convocation on May 12, 2017.
Kate O’Leary received the St. Joseph Pignatelli, S.J. Award for Dedicated Service and Achievement in the Biological Sciences.
Cullen Maxwell Lilley received the Ruth and Lee Faust Award for the Outstanding Graduating Senior in the Biological Sciences.
Cullen Lilley and Michael Pashkevich received the Rev. John H. Mullahy, S.J. Award for the Outstanding Achievement in the Sciences.
