Senior Research (PSYC A488) and Senior Thesis (PSYC A489) comprise a two-semester sequence that provides students the opportunity to develop, and later conduct, their own research project under the auspices of a faculty member in the Psychology department.
In the first semester, students develop a research proposal (literature review, introduction, hypotheses, and methods), and in the second semester, upon approval of the appropriate review board, collect and analyze their data, submitting a formal written thesis at the conclusion. An oral presentation of the thesis project also occurs at the end of the second semester.
The research process and experience is emphasized throughout, and the faculty members of the department work with the students to develop a project that each student chooses to do, given the resources available.
