Dr. Enrique Varela received his Ph.D. in clinical child psychology from the University of Kansas. His research focuses on: 1) social, familial, and cognitive factors in the development of anxiety in youth; 2) risk variables for development of adverse reactions to stressors including posttraumatic stress disorder; and 3) risk factors for the development of autism spectrum disorders. Enrique is Associate Editor of the journal Child and Youth Care Forum and is on the editorial boards of the Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology and the Journal of Anxiety Disorders. His teaching interests are in developmental psychopathology and abnormal psychology, family psychology, clinical psychology, and cognitive behavioral interventions.
