Suicide Prevention Coordinator at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System is Psychology Alumna

Dr. Michele Neumann Carroll completed a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Loyola University in 1992.  After graduation, she attended the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne where she earned Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Psychology.  She completed an internship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Psychology Training Consortium and a post-doctoral fellowship at Spain Rehabilitation Center in Birmingham, where she worked with individuals with spinal-cord injuries.

Michele served as the Executive Director of Region One Mental Health Center, one of the 15 community mental health centers in Mississippi that provides a full array of mental health services in a four county area, from 2004 through 2008.  For six years prior, she served as the agency’s Clinical Director.  During that time, she became actively involved with the Mississippi Psychological Association, including service as President. Michele returned to New Orleans in October and functions as the Suicide Prevention Coordinator at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System.

In her spare time, Michele enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and golden retriever.   She enjoys volunteering for school and church events, keeping in touch with her Mississippi friends, rekindling friendships from the past, and returning to the roots that have kept New Orleans home.
