At the annual meeting of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) in Portland, OR, Dr. Glenn Hymel was the recipient of two prestigious awards. The AMTA is a 58,000-plus member professional organization representing manual therapists specializing principally in therapeutic massage and bodywork. First, he received the 2011 National Distinguished Service Award, presented to him by the AMTA's president, Glenath Moyle.
Dr. Hymel was also the recipient of Massage Therapy Foundation's Distinguished Service Award for Visionary Leadership for 11 years of service to the Massage Therapy Foundation.
Dr. Hymel is also the Founding Executive Editor of the International Journal of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (IJTMB) and is also serving as the Founding Executive Editor of a peer-reviewed, open access, quarterly journal titled the International Journal of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork. The journal is currently indexed in the following eight databases, viz., PubMed Central, Quertle, Directory of Open Access Journals, CrossRef,Healthindex, Index Copernicus, Google Scholar, and Hinari, with additional indexing in Scopus to begin in March 2012.
In addition to his service as Executive Editor of the IJTMB, he also serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Bodywork & Movement Therapies.
