Dr. Erin Dupuis, Psychological Sciences, was awarded the University Senate Community Service Award at the January 2012 President's Convocation. Dupuis was given the award for her work at the Ozanam Inn homeless shelter in New Orleans. In 2011, Dr. Dupuis and Psychology alumnus, Corey Phillips, were awarded a Freeport-McMoRan foundation grant in the amount of $20,000 to establish a computer literacy lab at Oz. Interested residents are able to take a computer literacy course and receive a certificate of completion from Loyola's Office of the Provost. All residents are also able to receive free computer assistance during the computer lab hours (staffed by Dupuis' service learning classes). Dr. Dupuis, Corey Phillips, and Brad Petitfils also published a manuscript based upon research conducted related to the computer literacy classes in the Journal of Social Distress and the Homeless (2011).
