Dr. Thomas has surpassed what it means to teach with excellence. In the classroom, she strives to provide students with content in a manner that is both engaging and easy to understand. She has pioneered many courses, including BioInquiry and Foundations of Environmental Science that include curriculums designed to adequately prepare first-year students with the skills essential to a career in science. 

Dr. Thomas fostered their ability to understand and utilize the scientific method, and most importantly their enthusiasm for science. Their projects showcase the high-level achievement that her students have been able to attain through accolades such as publishing research papers, attending research conferences, gaining admittance into medical school, and even being recipients of the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship and Gates Cambridge Scholarship. She gives her students the tools, excitement, and confidence to pursue their passions. Dr. Thomas is not just a teacher, but also a scientist, a mentor, an enthusiast, and a role model.
