Cullen Lilley (’17) starts new position as a microbiologist at the CDC

Cullen Lilley (Biology / Music, ’17) is employed as a Microbiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In this role, Cullen applies next generation technologies to diagnose and subtype bacteria for the National Listeria, Yersinia, Vibrio, and Enterobacteriaceae Reference Laboratories.  Cullen will also be pursuing a Master’s Degree in microbiology to prepare himself for a career in clinical microbiology and infectious disease.  Prior to this position, Cullen worked for one year as a Microbiology Technician in an industrial microbiology laboratory at WuXi AppTec.  During his time there, he learned how modern diagnostic molecular microbiology is conducted and achieved the title of molecular diagnostic technologist with the American Association of Bioanalysts—MDxT(AAB).  Cullen is happy to share his experiences with interested students.
