Each year Loyola sends Mass Communication majors to the national Public Relations Student Society of America Conference to strengthen their public relations and networking skills through workshops, speakers, agency tours.
This year, eight students were able to attend the conference thanks to their fundraising efforts and the helpful donations of the Student Government Association and the CAS Dean's Office.
Cathy Rogers, the Faculty Adviser of Loyola's PRSSA chapter, was excited about Loyola's turnout this year. "This is the first time we've had this many students attend the conference in 10 years!" She said. "The students were so motivated and engaged, taking part in resume critiques and even agency tours."
One student, senior Natasha Martinez, toured the NCAA Headquarters with the Conference. "I had the opportunity to talk to the marketing and branding professionals there which helped solidify my interest about working in the sports industry," she said. "The National Conference made me understand how important it is to be a part of a professional affiliation because of how many other people are available to network with and get ideas from."
Haleigh Bourqe, a first year student, was also excited about the opportunity to take part in the Conference. "Attending the PRSSA National Conference showed me what I hoped was true all alone - I am destined to work in PR, a field filled with some of the most brilliant people in the workforce today."
