Seventeen Eighteen

1718 is a student-run literary reading series that features a published writer and student writers in a monthly public reading. The organization, as of 2020, is on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 1718 readings are free and open to the public and are held the first Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at The Columns Hotel during the school year. Founded in 2006 by Loyola English alum, poet, and author, Martin Pousson, 1718 is one of the premiere reading series in the city and remains a vital part of the New Orleans literary scene. Sigma Tau Delta

Sigma Tau Delta is an international English honors society. Loyola's Omega Upsilon chapter sponsors numerous events throughout the year, including faculty presentations on subjects ranging from poetry to graphic novels, workshops on applying to graduate school, and readings by English majors from their honor theses. Sigma Tau Delta is open to all students interested in literature and writing who maintain high academic standards.
