Instructions for Awardees & Family and Friends
Some helpful information to help visualize the event -- there will be a short rehearsal before the ceremony.
Awardees:
- Row A is reserved for presenters. Rows B, C, D, and E of the auditorium are reserved for award winners
- Students can join their families after receiving their awards or at the reception immediately following the ceremony
- The order of the presentations by department is listed on the program -- please stay aware of when your group is coming up, and be ready to go to the stage
- Go up the stairs to the left -- the previous group will be exiting on the stairs to the right
- Your department Chairperson or Director will go to the 2nd podium
- Students should spread out between the two podiums so friends and family can see all the winners, take pictures, etc.
- Stay on stage the whole time -- the group will arrive and leave at the same time
- When your name is called, go to the podium. After being recognized, return to your spot on stage
- When your group is finished, exit on the opposite stairs -- an usher will direct you to the hallway for a group photo
- After the photo, you can sit anywhere unless you are receiving another award
- If you are receiving another award, please return to the reserved area, and wait for your next group
- There is no dress code for the day, but many are celebrating graduation and dress accordingly. Above all, be comfortable, and wear shoes that will allow you to easily move around the auditorium, go up and down stairs, walk across the stage, etc.
- The auditorium is wheelchair accessible. If you or any of your family members need additional accommodations, please call the Dean's office for further assistance: 504 865 3244.
Many thanks for your help, and congratulations once again on your award!
