Application for Graduation

Loyola confers degrees in May, August, and December. To be eligible for graduation, a student must file an application for graduation. Specific deadlines for application are published in the academic calendar. A student may participate in a yearly graduation ceremony which is held in May.

  1. Applications for graduation are available online.
  2. Once the application is submitted online, the School of Nursing will review the application and submit it to Student Records with additional comments or required courses.
  3. The Office of Student Records will e-mail the student acknowledging the application. The student must reply to this email and its amendments. If the student wishes to dispute any of the changes on the application for graduation, she/he should contact the Director of the School of Nursing.

Graduation Distinctions (Honors at Graduation)

Graduation distinctions are based on a student’s Loyola University New Orleans cumulative grade point average provided the student has completed at least 64 graded hours at Loyola. Graduation distinctions for transfer students who complete fewer than 64 Loyola graded hours are based on the combination of two factors: 1) the Loyola grade point average and 2) the combined grade point average of course work taken at all transfer institutions. A student who earns 3.5 graduates cum laude; one who earns 3.7 magna cum laude; one who earns 3.9, summa cum laude. Refer to the section on “Graduation Distinctions” in the Loyola University Undergraduate Bulletin for further information.
