John Mosier, Ph.D., published The Myth of the Great War in 2001. The book was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in history.

The controversial book argued aggressively that America’s involvement on the allied side has been far more influential than previously thought. In Myth, Mosier contended that the allied continued fighting in French trenches under the delusion that German casualties far outweighed those of the French and Belgian. The book impressed many with its scope of knowledge of French military history, appreciation for the terrain, and its sharp revisionism.

Mosier has taught at Loyola more than 20 years with classes in European literature and film. HarperCollins published the Myth of the Great War in the United States and the rights were sold to British publisher, Pilot Press.
