Daneeta Loretta Jackson studied English at Loyola University where she graduated with a B.A. in 1988 and won the Dawson Gaillard Award for Creative Writing. She received an M.A. in Literature from George Mason University.

Embarking on a writing career, she worked in California, Tokyo, and London publishing work in Metropolis, Tokyo Journal, Being a Broad, The Guardian, and the Abiko Quarterly among others. In 2000, she began her studies at the London Film School. She graduated with a terminal degree in the Art and Technique of Filmmaking, with distinctions in directing and producing.

It was at the London Film School where she met Patrick Jackson together with whom she formed The Elektrik Zoo, a creative partnership. The two began producing films, writings and photographs. They completed their first feature film Tokyo Cowboys in 2005. Their work has screened at festivals and Contemporary Arts Centers in Europe and Asia. Jackson began blogging in 2003, maintaining production journals for her major films, publishing creative non-fiction, and writing for London Metblogs.

In 2008, The Elektrik Zoo relocated to New Orleans to begin work on their second feature. They are involved with film education through NOVAC, The Colton Studios, and the Recovery School District, and they are working on a documentary training project for at-risk youths with The Alliance for Affordable Energy. They are also working with local New Orleans dancer Chard Gonzales on a dance and video projection piece to be performed at the Center for Creative Arts. They have recently completed a music video shot in New Orleans for the French artist Franz Kirmann. Jackson is also the New Orleans City Life Examiner on Examiner.com.
