Loyola Lagniappe Student Schedule - August 23 & August 24, 2010

Day 1 - Monday, August 23, 2010

8:00 - 11:00 a.m. CHECK–IN
Location: Danna Student Center, St. Charles Room
Check-in for Loyola Lagniappe. Students may take their Loyola University I.D. card photo from 8:00 a.m. - 11:00
a.m. with Card Services in the Claiborne Room, Danna Student Center.

PLACEMENT TESTING
Time and Location: Check your registration information sheet to see what placement test(s), if any, you have
been scheduled to take and when and where to report. Please note that your placement tests time may conflict
with another scheduled activity. You should report directly to the placement test at your scheduled time and
report to the other activity once you have completed placement testing. English reports to Bobet 214; Spanish,
French and German to Bobet 100, Greek and Latin to Bobet 114; and History to Bobet 216.

11:00 - 11:30 a.m. WELCOME TO LOYOLA!
Location: Communications/Music Complex, Roussel Hall
Welcome Class of 2014! Join Mr. Robert Reed, Assistant Vice-President of Student Affairs and Mr. Kurt Bindewald,
Director of University Ministry, as they welcome you to Loyola University.

11:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. LETS GET IT STARTED!
Location: Various Classrooms and the Danna Student Center
You will meet your Orientation Krewe Leaders and your classmates for an energizing activity. You will have the
opportunity to meet incoming classmates, discuss Orientation, and get more familiar with campus.

12:30 - 2:00 p.m. LUNCH
Location: Danna Student Center
Your meal tickets are covered by the orientation registration fee. Family members are strongly encouraged to
purchase meal tickets at check-in.

2:15 - 5:00 p.m. EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS
Students will attend each of the four sessions with their Krewe Leader and small groups. Each session will last 30
minutes and will begin at 2:15 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 3:45 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
1. StrengthsQuest, Danna Student Center, Audubon Room: Loyola University uses Strengths-based interactions
with student throughout their collegiate career. Learn about this concept and how you can capitalize on your
strengths. Session 1: Groups 1-3, Session 2: Groups 4-6, Session 3: Groups 7-9, Session 4: Groups 10-13
2. Career Development Center, Bobet Hall, Room 332: You will learn about the services of the Career
Development Center and engage in a discussion about interests, abilities, and values in relation to major
choice. Session 1: Groups 4-6, Session 2: Groups 7-9, Session 3: Groups 10-13, Session 4: Groups 1-3
3. iLive, Miller Hall, Room 114 : Come learn more about the Office of Student Affairs new comprehensive
co-curricular education programs and leadership development offering. Discussion will center around
student involvement and the values of dignity, wholeness, compassion, inclusiveness and excellence.
Session 1: Groups 7-9, Session 2: Groups 10-13 Session 3: Groups 1-3, Session 4: Groups 4-6
4. Student Panel, Monroe Hall, Room 157: How much do I really have to study? How’s the food on campus?
What can I do on the weekends? As an incoming student, you may have many questions about student life at
Loyola. This session will provide time for you to ask current student leaders about their experiences, how to get
involved and prepared for your first year at Loyola!
Session 1: Groups 10-13, Session 2: Groups 1-3, Session 3: Groups 4-6, Session 4: Groups 7-9

5:00 - 9:00 p.m. DINNER ON YOUR OWN
Location: New Orleans
You should take this time to enjoy the city known for it’s culture and great food! Krewe Leaders and the Hospitality
Table, located in the Danna Student Center, can make suggestions for you based on cuisine, location, and price.

9:00 p.m. -12:00 a.m. LATE NIGHT @ LOYOLA
Location: Danna Student Center, St. Charles Room
The night will begin with “Peer Players,” featuring the Krewe Leaders performing fun and entertaining skits on life as
a college student. Afterward, there will be music and a student resource fair featuring different student             
organizations and departments. 

Day 2 - Monday, August 24, 2010

8:30 - 11:30 a.m. EDUCATIONAL SESSIONS
You will attend each of the three sessions with your Krewe Leader and small groups. Each session will last 45
minutes beginning at 8:30 a.m. Presentations will begin at 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
1. Mission and Ministry, Communications/Music Complex, Roussel Hall: Our Catholic, Jesuit heritage is an
important part of the education foundation at Loyola. The Office of Mission and Ministry will speak about its
unique programs available for students of all different faith traditions to explore and deepen their faith lives
both internally and externally through service to the community. Find out more about retreats, immersion
programs and other services offered.
Session 1: Groups1-4, Session 2: Groups 5-8, Session 3: Groups 9-13
2. Study Abroad, Monroe Hall, Nunemaker Auditorium, Third Floor: Join the more than 30% of Loyola students who
study abroad before they graduate. With programs in over 40 different countries, whether you want to go for
one month, a semester or a year, Loyola has the program for you!
Session 1: Groups 5-8, Session 2: Groups 9-13, Session 3: Groups 1-4
3. Part of the Pack, Various Campus Locations: Loyola is a thriving community built on many traditions. You will
have the opportunity to learn from their Krewe Leaders about being a Loyola student. Krewe Leaders will
discuss Loyola lingo, traditions, and what you can look forward to in your first year on campus.
Session 1: Groups 9-13, Session 2: Groups 1-4, Session 3: Groups 5-8

11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. LUNCH
Location: Danna Student Center
Your meal tickets are covered by the orientation registration fee. Parents are strongly encouraged to purchase
meal tickets at check-in.

1:15 - 2:15 p.m. COLLEGE SESSIONS
Locations: College of Business, Miller Hall, Room 114
College of Social Sciences, Bobet Hall, Room 332
College of Humanities and Natural Sciences, Monroe Hall, Nunemaker Auditorium
College of Music and Fine Arts, Communications/Music Complex, Room 230
During the assemblies, students and parents will learn about academic expectations, meet representatives from
your college and have the opportunity to ask questions regarding your academic experience.

2:15 - 4:00 p.m. ADVISING AND REGISTRATION
Location: Students will remain in rooms listed by college session above.
You will meet with a faculty advisor and review your fall course schedule at this time.
