English Majors’ Awards 2020

Each year the English department recognizes English majors who excel in each our three major tracks: Literature, Writing, and Film & Digital Media. This year the department recognizes the following juniors:

	Lisa Jackson, Award of Excellence in Literature
	Victoria Gudino, Award of Excellence in Writing
	Samantha Ammons, Award of Excellence in Film and Digital Media
	Thyme Hawkins, Award of Excellence in Film and Digital Media

The department also recognizes the following seniors:

	Madison Tuck, Julian Wasserman Outstanding Literature Major Award

Dawson Gaillard Writing Awards 2020

Each year the English department holds writing competitions in expository and creative writing. The competitions are open to all Loyola students, and the winners are determined by a committee of English department faculty. These awards honor the memory of former English faculty member and chairperson, Dr. Dawson Gaillard, whose dedication to the teaching of writing was a particular inspiration to both her students and her colleagues.

	The Dawson Gaillard Award for Poetry goes to Emily Gil.
	The Dawson Gaillard Award for Fiction goes to Lisa Jackson.
	The Dawson Gaillard Award for Best Essay goes to Samuel Tyree.
	The Dawson Gaillard Award for Best Script goes to Kathryn Miesse.
