Shelley Workinger graduated Magna Cum Laude from Loyola in 2000, majoring in both Writing and Sociology. On July 4, 2011, she released Settling, the second book in her popular young adult series about teens who discover they were secretly genetically altered before birth and are brought together at a classified site where they develop "super-abilities," while at the same time forging new friendships, finding love, and unearthing a conspiracy. The series has received commendations from Reading Teen and Litland among others for being an exciting yet Clean Read, i.e. no sex, drugs, or gratuitous violence.
