Laura Murphy publishes book on West African slave trade

Loyola University New Orleans assistant professor Laura Murphy, Ph.D., published “Metaphor and the Slave Trade in West African Literature” with Ohio University Press, the leading publisher of African Studies research in the country. The book examines the way West Africans have memorialized the era of the transatlantic slave trade through unique metaphors that communicate the horrors of slavery from generation to generation.
