On May 17, 2022, Dr. Elizabeth Watkins gave the keynote address at Country Day's Humanities Capstone Conference. She spoke to the entire upper school at Metairie Park Country Day, at least 225 students, and stayed around afterwards to answer more questions the students had. Three of the students pictured here are joining the Wolf Pack this coming fall!
The talk was entitled "Christine de Pizan and the City of Wonder Women," and Dr. Watkins discussed how Christine de Pizan used the mythical Amazons as part of her argument against misogyny in the fifteenth-century Book of the City of Ladies. She also drew connections between Christine's medieval Amazons and William Marston's creation of Wonder Woman in the 1940s.
