The Master of Science in Counseling offered at Loyola University New Orleans is a 48 hr. graduate program. Students are required to take 9 hrs. of core courses, 30 semester hrs. of required counseling courses, and 9 hrs. of electives consistent with the student’s interest and approved by the advisor. The capstone experience, which involves translating what is learned in the classroom into clinical practice under close supervision, includes the Practicum and two consecutive semesters of Internship. Students are urged to meet with their advisor on a regular basis to insure that requirements are being completed in a timely manner and that courses appropriate to the student’s program of study are selected.
