As one of two Academic Advisors in the Dean's office, some of my work includes: Helping develop, review, enforce, and document curricular requirements and academic regulations; assisting annually with degree-plan updates and program changes for maintenance of the University Bulletin; training faculty and staff on SIS procedures, and resolving issues for and with same; training faculty, staff, and students to utilize OnCourse and U-Achieve, as well as resolving issues for and with same; assisting Service offices with SACSOC documentation as needed; researching and articulating transfer credits for prospective students, and posting transfer and study-abroad credits for current students; coordinating summer-advising for CAS (gathering and disseminating program information, creating training materials, studying/revising/implementing logistics, contributing to efforts to reduce summer-melt, training advisors, making and tracking advisor-assignments, performing file distribution, and more), preparing student schedules, and participating in Orientation; contributing to persistence and retention efforts; creating success plans for and with at-risk students; identifying candidates for alternate degree-plans, then transitioning and advising same; processing changes of major, minor, 2nd majors and minors, and program substitutions; coordinating dual-diplomas with other colleges; reviewing and approving cross-enrollment requests, requests to take summer classes at other schools, and study-abroad course-selection; serving as a Drupal editor; coordinating student awards and the Honors convocation along with the rest of the Dean's team; auditing students' records for graduation; and coordinating the fall, spring, and summer course-schedules with Student Records and the academic departments.
