Congratulations to Loyola Alumni Eva Knowles for being selected for the DAAD Study Scholarships - Master Studies for All Academic Disciplines.

Eva graduated with her bachelors at Loyola in Sociology in spring of 2023 and has since been living in Galicia, Ourense, Spain completing a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship. She is grateful to all of her professors in the Sociology Department at Loyola, especially Dr. Talukdar and Dr. Kondkar, for mentoring her throughout her undergraduate career and supporting her in her academic endeavors, no matter how big (or far)! She looks forward to pursuing a degree in Global Studies before pursuing higher education or going into the foreign service.

DAAD scholarships are aimed primarily at graduates, doctoral students and postdocs and are awarded for study and research visits to universities and non-university research institutions in Germany. DAAD scholarships do not have to be paid back. They usually consist of a monthly scholarship payment and a flat-rate travel allowance. In many cases, DAAD also provides health, accident and personal liability insurance. There are also additional benefits such as a one-off research allowance, family benefits or funds for language courses. Eva plans to travel to Leipzig in August for a two-month long intensive German course.
