Frederic to Study with the Loretto Community

At the Spring 2014 Honors convocation, Kyleah Frederic from Saint Amant, LA won recognition related to her plans to study with a Catholic civil rights group. She was given the Religious Studies Ignatian Works award, which names a Religious Studies major or minor who embodies the ideals of a Jesuit education, and who will undoubtedly perpetuate these qualities in their future work: Candidates are not only outstanding students, but they also show the promise of dedicating their professional lives to service. Frederic’s teachers had much to say about her academic excellence, but she distinguished herself in applying for and being accepted to a year-long program with the Loretto Community who are a Catholic group based in St. Louis. The Loretto Sisters are dedicated to legislative advocacy, social change, peace, and justice.
