Achievements

 

Aaron Wiseman ’17 recently started work as an Assistant District Attorney in Orleans Parish.  His initial work will be in the civil rights division.

 

In 2017 the Political Science Outstanding Academic Achievement Award was presented to Aaron Wiseman at the College of Arts and Sciences Honors Convocation.

At the annual conference of the Midwest Political Science Association, held the first weekend of April, 2019, Political Science senior Mallory Dickerson presented a paper titled, "Held to a Higher Standard: The Electoral Implications of Gendered Perceptions of U.S. Representatives’ Competence and Ideological Distance," and sophomore Grace Quisenberry presented a paper titled,"Why are the Non-voting U.S. House Delegates Effective Legislators?" each co-authored with Dr. Sean Cain.

Luis E. Rivera II ’01 (political science), an attorney at Henderson Franklin Starnes & Holt PA in Florida, was selected as an emerging leader in the American Bankruptcy Institute’s 40 Under 40 initiative. He was formally recognized at ABI’s 2017 Winter Leadership Conference in Palm Springs, Calif. Rivera has broad experience in business litigation, bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, and insolvency counseling. He is board-certified in business bankruptcy law and consumer bankruptcy by the American Board of Certification, one of only 12 attorneys in Florida to hold this dual certification.

 

Dr. Young Soo Kim, Assistant Professor of Political Science, publishes article entitled: Variance in Global Response to HIV/AIDS between the United States and Japan: Perception, Media, and Civil Society, in the Japanese Journal of Political Science.

Mary Kate Andrepont, a political science major in the University Honors Program, was one of only two students elected this year to be members of the National Collegiate Honors Council Board of Trustees.
