Dual Degree Programs in Physics (Loyola) and Biomedical, Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (CUA)

A new agreement between Loyola and The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., offers new opportunities for pre-engineering students.

A new 3+2 dual degree program has been established between the Physics Department at Loyola and the Biomedical, Civil, ELectrical, and Mechanical Engineering Programs at the Catholic University of America. Students will attend Loyola for three years, majoring in Pre-Engineering Physics (PHYE), after which they will attend CUA for two more years. They will earn a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Loyola and the engineering Bachelor's degree in one of the participating engineering programs from CUA.

To be eligible to transfer to CUA, students in the Loyola Pre-Engineering program will be calculus-eligible since their first semester at Loyola and have maintained a Loyola cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. The agreement specifies required coursework at both universities. All students interested in this program should contact the Physics Department Chair, Dr. Kargol, for more details.
