Loyola Physics students Anna Smith, Kennedi Turner, Ariel Hall, and Sandrine Ferrans attended the annual Conference for Undergraduate Women in Physics, CUWiP, held in Jacksonville, Fl, in January 2018. This conference is organized by the American Physical Society and its goal is to aid professional development of undergraduate women in physics by providing them with the opportunity to experience a professional conference, information about graduate schools and professions in physics, and networking opportunities with other physicists. Anna and Kennedi presented their work with Dr. T. Biswas on modeling of neurons. Ariel had a poster about her research on the effect of nanoparticles on gating of ion channels done in Dr Kargol's lab. This work was done with another Loyola student, Kaough Baggett, and Anne-Marie Murat (currently at LSU Shreveport Medical Center).
