Colleen Lattyak (Physics '14) goes to Germany

When I was applying to graduate school I knew that I wanted to study renewable and sustainable energy. I decide to look at universities outside the United Sates because I found that universities here do not offer programs in renewable energy.  After a lot of research and many applications later, I was accepted to schools in Germany, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. I chose the University of Oldenburg because it is exactly the kind of program I was looking for.

The postgraduate program in renewable energy at the University of Oldenburg in Germany will allow me to study many aspects of renewable energy such as wind, solar, hydropower, and bio energy. The program is 18 months long and includes a mandatory internship or practical training between the first and second semesters.  The last six months is spent on the masters thesis, to be completed at the University of Oldenburg, another university/institution, or an industry partner.

I am extremely grateful to have such a wonderful opportunity.
