Craig Hood is an evolutionary ecologist who was one of the founding faculty of the Environmental Studies Minor Program in 1989 that evolved into our current Environment Program in 2011, serving as Director for 5 years. He enjoys teaching a broad diversity of environmental courses across all levels of Loyola’s curriculum --from the Loyola Core to majors courses in the Environment, Biology and the Honors Program.  Environment courses include Biology of Organisms, Conservation Biology and Human Sociobiology.  He is a member of the Society for Conservation Biology, Citizen Science Association and the Ecological Society of America, and this past Summer and Fall made invited presentations at their workshops and conferences and was a participant in the American Museum Summer Program for Network of Conservation Educators and Practitioners (NCEP). His focus the past two decades has been in conducting research and educational projects in bat conservation and has established a network of bat monitoring stations deployed in collaboration with K-12 and NGO citizen scientists across the Greater New Orleans region. He seeks students of all majors to participate in the bat monitoring program that he is directing.
