Part Two of Dr. Kargol's "Introduction to Cellular Biophysics" book has been published

Dr. Armin Kargol has published the second volume of a book "Introduction to Cellular Biophysics", titled "From Membrane Transport to Neural Signalling". This volume, together with Part One, "Membrane Transport Mechanisms" will be used in a course PHYS A436 "Cellular Biophysics" which Dr. Kargol will teach in Fall'20.

The aim of this book is to look into the basic physical phenomena occurring in cells. These physical transport processes facilitate chemical reactions in the cell and various electrical effects, and that in turn leads to biological functions necessary for the cell to satisfy its role in the mother organism. Ultimately, the goals of every cell are to stay alive and to fulfill its function as a part of a larger organ or organism. The first volume of this book is an inventory of physical transport processes occurring in cells while the second volume provides a closer look at how complex biological and physiological cell phenomena result from these very basic physical processes. It includes discussion of cell homeostasis, transport in epithelial cells, neuron excitability, and synaptic transmission.

This two-volume book has been published by Morgan and Claypool in cooperation with IOP as a part of a "Concise Physics" series. It is available in print and ebook formats: Part OnePart Two
